When you have completed the various dragon sections in the book, you will receive gems as a prize. By battling dragons, you will also receive gems as a victory prize in game. On completing a league, you receive 3 gems, regardless of difficulty. Normally, you receive gems for breeding Hybrid dragons (more for breeding rare ones). Some particular quest goals will award you gems as a victory prize. This is by far the simplest method, but once you reach the higher levels, it will become harder for you to level up and thus earn gems using this method. Leveling up will earn you 1 gem per level up. If you follow these steps, you are bound to get loads of Gems!

In this guide, you will find what gems are, as well as various ways on collecting gems which in turn, unlike Gold, you can use to buy rare items in the shop. It will use up a lot of VR joker orbs at once, especially if you don't have that many of either dragon yet (can be gathered from those random dragon orbs chest from calenders and events, but chances of getting what you want are slim), but if you aren't aiming to summon any other VR dragons, it'll be a good investment for Puzzles in the long run.Gems are the second currency of Dragon City, the first being Gold. Otherwise, you can buy some orbs of Double Electric (not sure whether got Double Nature) in the orbs shop using a few gems, then wait until the next Happy Hour and use VR joker orbs to replace the remaining number of orbs you need. It wouldn't guarantee a Gummy (you can check the odds using the breeding calculator first before breeding them together), and you might get multiple Nature and Electric dragons, but you'll get there eventually. If you have other Nature-Electric dragons like Stressed, Hawaiian or an existing Gummy dragon (from Dragon Rescue if you haven't got any yet), you can try breeding with each other or with a Nature/Electric dragon.
